Seven traits of a company for long term investment

These are 7 initial traits you should look before going deep into studying a company for long term investment. These behavioral pattern are common across all good companies.
  1. Best corporate practices. Managed by people known for great integrity in business. As I said earlier, "यथा राजा, तथा प्रजा". Means company's seed and culture is build around the personality of CEO. Kind of people he like and vision he has, define rest of the company.
  2. These companies listed before 10 years , so well know balance sheets available.  They have seen at least two recessions by now.
  3. Bulls of their domain. They are diversified, category leaders, and giant. This is directly related to survive ability a company for next 10-20 years. Recessions are best friend of these companies. Their sustainability in bad times make them prepared for good times, when other competitors are diminishing.
  4. They give regular dividend from last 10 years. This is very important. It shows that these companies care for their investor and generate surplus cash flow every year. Dividend re-invest is completely up to you, based on your need
  5. They have very conservative approach to business. They are in ever green fields of human need. These need can be a shaving blade, an affordable car, a housing loan, or a service needed by most of the other companies using technology.
  6. High interest of big institutional investors and Mutual funds in the company. Because these fund houses do proper research before investing, and hold for a very long time, one should appreciate number of these investor in a company.
  7. They do not generate equities neither do buy back frequently. If fact they do not split their share price very often. In this way they try to stop sudden change in stock price. These companies do not measure their performance based on daily high volume on Sensex. Rather, they want investor to become rich not the stock exchange.
